Electric TopHat: Updates for Modulo and Tocco Robo Imminent!

15 05 2009

eth_logo_full

Good afternoon gaming fans. Friday’s are really great aren’t they? Unless of course you’re a gaming journalist, then you spend Saturday and Sunday locked in your bedroom reviewing games all day. Hey, don’t start, the life of a games journalist/PR person isn’t all fun you know…just 99% of it 😛

This Friday in particular is brilliant for another, more important reason though, as The Gentleman Coders at Electric TopHat announce they are releasing updates to two of their insanely addictive and quite frankly, brilliant puzzle games Modulo and Tocco Robo.

Press releases will be available here when the official word goes out, but for now, enjoy some facts and screenshots of both games. They really are superb, addictive and bursting with charm and for such a small asking price, you’d be mad not to give them a  whirl!

Tocco Robo – £0.59

Tocco Robo is Electric TopHat’s take on the block puzzle format, where players must line up rows of three matching robots to earn time and points. The premise is simple and accessible, but intense combo chains and five increasingly devious skill settings will put even the most seasoned puzzle fan to the test. With a slick art style and incredibly catchy tunes provided by the talented Robo Choir, this is a puzzle game with real character and charm.

ToccoScreen1

Tocco Robo – Classic Version 1.1 will Feature:

• New Icon with a new Robo Trapped inside.
• Improved the game performance significantly.
• Improved the touch detection to make moving the Robos easier.
• Improved the Robo tutorial
• Added in a double collect multiplier for more points.
• Added auto detection of the iPod music and auto disable the game music.

Modulo – £1.19

Exclusively designed and developed for Apple hardware, Modulo moves away from your traditional puzzle titles and asks you to think outside the box. Players must rotate a set of coloured cogs until they are all facing in the same direction. The aim is simple, but to master the game takes a great deal of lateral thinking, as tethered shapes gum up the works and force you to get your thinking cap on.

ModuloPhoneA

Modulo Update 1.1 will include:

• New Graphical Overhaul
• Improved Gameplay (we made the cogs go a little faster for you)
• 60 Additional Puzzles
• New Game Mode – Attack Mode
• Puzzle Ranking and Overall Difficulty Level Ranking
• User Audio Playback Support

Tag Games Unleashes Car Jack Streets iPhone

The highly anticipated crime-simulator debuts on App Store today

Car Jack Streets iPhone, one of the most anticipated iPhone releases to date explodes onto App Store, courtesy of developer Tag Games.

Created by members of the original Grand Theft Auto team, the title is the closest thing to the original Rockstar franchise available on any mobile device. Utilising the iPhone’s unique features to expand on the original crime-sim template, Car Jack Streets is one of the most expansive titles ever released on Apple’s device.

The action-packed title follows Randal, a hopeless gambler with a $1million debt to the mob. When crime lord Frankie decides it’s time to call in your tab, you must do whatever it takes to pay him back or suffer the consequences. Will you work hard to make an honest buck, or will the spoils of the criminal underworld be too much to resist?

Don’t dwell on it too much however, because if you miss just one of your $50,000-a-week payments, you wont just be fighting to repay your debt, you’ll be fighting for your life. With a superb real-time mission format incorporating an accurate day/night cycle, players will literally race against the clock to make debt payments on time.

There are over 60 criminal mission templates and an almost infinite number of mission possibilities. In addition there are 12 ‘always on’ minor jobs such as taxi driving, pizza delivery and bus driving eight additional frenzied bonus tasks.

Using an accessible virtual d-pad system, Car Jack Streets boasts superb pick up and play value, with short missions perfect for burst play while on the move. Players can get to grips with larger than life weapons, wade into the explosive, over-the-top action and steal a slew of vehicles to tear around the city in, complete with in-car radio stations.

Setting the tone of this mayhem is an unrivalled 80-minute soundtrack from some of the hottest unsigned artists today. The track list, spanning a diverse range of genres including country, dance, hip hop and indie, features up and coming artists Laurelyn Carter, Atom Da Immortal, The Snowbyrds and Red Shirt Theory. Found a song in the game you really like?  – no problem. Each track can be downloaded directly from the game via the Apple iTunes Store using the device’s wi-fi connectivity.

Exclusive Car Jack Streets information and features can be found on the official game website http://www.carjackstreets.com. Also available is a series of exclusive, behind-the-scenes developer diaries filmed on location at the Tag Games studio. Welcome Aboard: Tag Games

5 03 2009

Second of our new signings is Dundee-based mobile developer Tag Games. These guys are on the brink of unleashing a little known game called Car Jack Streets onto the iPhone. It’s a crime sim like no other and one of the most ambitious mobile games so far on any platform.

The game plays in a similar vein to to the original Grand Theft Auto titles (The Tag Team were part of DMA Design when they made the original GTA), but with many brilliant additions that make it superior to the originals in every way.

Favouring a retro top-down view, the game features a real-time day-night cycle that affects the gameplay. Real-time missions keep you on your toes – planned a bank job at 10pm tonight? Well, you better be there on time or you’re going to miss it and get on the wrong side of the mob (not advised of course!)

cjs_render_800x1167

Gamers can also compete against other Car Jack Streets owners with online rankings constantly hanging over your head, reminding you of how much you suck (not really, they’re a nice bunch really).

Feature 80 minutes of radio music from some of the hottest unsigned bands across the globe, including Soma High, Atom tha Immortal, Esteban, The Amateurs and Laurelyn Carter, this is the most inmmersive and expansive game to ever grace the palm of your hand.

Like the in-game songs? Download them at the touch of an icon via itunes. Ink Media’s first press release for this massive game will focus on the bands who helped provide the music for the game. We’ve also got video developer diaries, exclusive trailers and a host of fun things on the way. Watch this space!
